About Simply Kayla’s

I’m Kayla, the baker, creator, and heart behind Simply Kayla’s.

I’m a Bundaberg local, a mum to three beautiful kids, a wife to the most wonderful and supportive husband, a daughter of wonderful parents and the big sister of some pretty cool siblings, I’m even an aunty!

Simply Kayla’s isn’t just a business to me. It’s a piece of my family story.

My late Grandad was the one who always told me I should be selling my cakes and sweet treats. He encouraged and believed in me long before I ever believed in myself. He’d taste something I made and say, “Kayla, when are you opening your shop front.” Losing him, and my grandma (who was always baking for her grandkids) left a space nothing can fill, but continuing this little business feels like honouring a promise. I can’t give up on this, and I can’t let it fail. Every order is a quiet nod to him for the encouragement and love he poured into me.

Simply Kayla’s was always supposed to be just that, simple and delicious treats that everyone can afford. I do my best to keep my prices fair because I want everyone in our community to enjoy something special — whether it’s a birthday, a celebration, or just a treat to brighten your day. Some foods are good for your body and others are good for your soul and that’s where I come in! Every cupcake, cookie, cake and cheesecake is made with care, pride, and a whole lot of heart.

When I’m not parenting, baking, creating, or tackling the never‑ending housework that comes with a family of 5, you’ll find me at CrossFit United or working on my Olympic lifting with United Barbell Club — this is my little pocket of sanity where I get to breathe, reset, and get strong – just for me!

My baking is guided by a collection of recipes gathered over the years — some passed down through family, others discovered, tested, and loved from creators and cookbooks I admire, including Brisbane’s “Brooki.” I bring these favourites together to create treats that feel nostalgic, comforting, and full of heart, blending tradition with my own personal touch.

I don’t rush the process or rely on shortcuts; I take the time to create bakes that feel warm, personal, and truly homemade.
